MAIN EVENT FLIGHT C TOP TEN STACKS
As expected, with the opening flights of the Main Event drawing to a close, a host of notable names took their seats to try and get a stack through to Day 2A, but most bit the dust at some point during the day. Names such as Rene von Reden, Dicky Tsang, and Kevin Hasler will need to take their shot in today’s final opening flight or take their chances and buy-in directly to one of the Day 2’s with a full 40,000 starting stack.
Germany’s Joshua Gebissa bagged up 198,100 chips in seventh place and is in the hunt for his first APT Title, and looking to crack the USD 1.5 million mark in lifetime earnings with a high finish here.
Daniel Neilson hot off his 4th Place Superstar Challenge finish
Directly after busting out of the final table of the Superstar Challenge in fourth spot, Aussie Daniel Neilson jumped into Flight C and spun his stack up to a respectable 186,300 chips, good for ninth on the leaderboard. Neilson will be looking for another deep APT run to crack through the USD 6 million in lifetime earnings mark and hopefully add another trophy to his mantlepiece, which must be needing some reinforcement soon.
Charlie Chiu
Taiwan’s Charlie Chiu finished just outside the top ten in eleventh spot with 172,600 chips and is looking for the treble in APT Titles and also to crack the USD 1 million barrier in lifetime earnings.
Colombia’s Andres Vasquez bagged up 168,800 chips and will be hoping to better his third-place finish at last year’s APT Taipei in the Baby Superstar Challenge and claim his first APT Title.
Andres Vasquez
Former APT Main Event champion, Christopher Mateo of the Philippines bagged up 102,000 chips and, with a big final table appearance here, could cross the USD 1.5 million threshold in lifetime earnings.
Hong Kong’s triple bracelet winner Anson Tsang is also in the mix to make it a triple APT Title as well and close in on the USD 5 million in lifetime earnings mark.
China’s Ren Lin jumped into the flight in the last level of play and tried to spin up his stack with his trademark all-in shoves but didn’t get paid off and finished the day bagging up just over starting stack with 47,000 chips.
