Punsri Runs into Nasu's Bullets

Punnat Punsri raised to 2,500 from the hijack and was looked up by Kento Nasu in the cutoff, and Seunghyuk Jung in the big blind.

The dealer peeled off the flop of Q 6 9 . Punsri checked and Nasu bet out for 3,000 which found a fold from Jung. Punsri put in a check-raise to 12,000 which Nasu called.

The turn brought the J and Punsri led out for 11,000, Nasu called.

The players saw the 7 fall on the river and Punsri bet out for 18,500, Nasu flat called and tabled A A which had Punsri's A Q crushed and Nasu was pushed the pot.

Punrsi also has six APT titles in various poker variants from Atomic Pineapple to Quadruple Super Stud and Seven Card Stud Masters. Of course, his biggest APT achievement was winning the APT Main Event during APT Taipei 2023.

An appetizing preflop pot of 84,500 was built between Nevan Chang on the small blind and Konstantin Held on the cutoff.

The dealer fanned out a A J Q on the flop. Chang - the three-better before the flop - continued with a bet of 15,000. Held matched to open up a 9 on the turn.

Chang tapped his option over to Held, who didn't hesitate to push in 35,000 beyond the betting line.

Chang tanked, spent a time bank token and eventually mucked his hand before the time ran out, surrendering the huge pot to Held.

A pot of 12,500 was in the middle beside a board that showed 3 J 8 9 .

Sung Jin Yung was in early position and tapped his option over to Wouter Beltz on the button, who also tapped back.

The dealer threw in a J on the river, which both players checked down.

Yung revealed a formidable A 6 but was second best to the 6 6 of Betz, which scooped the pot.

Joseph Cheong made it 2,500 to play from the cutoff and was looked up by Daniel Neilson in the big blind.

The flop came 9 5 T and the action went check check for the dealer to peel off the A as the turn.

Neilson checked to Cheong who bet out for 7,000 only to face a check raise from Neilson to 27,000. Cheong made the call.

On the 6 river Neilson led out for 15,000 and Cheong snap-called only to snap muck his hand on seeing Neilson table 5 5 for a flopped set.

A total of 17 early entries have already ponied up the KRW 330,000 (~USD 10,500) buy-in for the prestigious APT Super High Roller.

Among some familiar APT regulars in the field include Australian John Perry, who is an APT title winner, making his mark by winning the Hyper Turbo High Roller during APT Phu Quoc 2024. Perry also has over USD 2.1 million in total live earnings to his name.

Fellow Australian Daniel Neilson has also taken to the felt. With nearly USD 6 million in total live earnings, Neilson made his mark in the APT by winning the Single Day High Roller during APT Taipei Poker Classic 2024 then following it up by lifting the APT Rose Gold Lion trophy when he triumphed in the APT High Roller during APT Manila 2024.

APT all-time money leader Joseph Cheong of the USA has also taken his seat. Cheong is definitely one of the main figures of the APT, having won the APT Superstar Challenge and the APT Zodiac Classic twice apart from his other APT cashes. Cheong boasts over USD 20 million in total live earnings.

The 20-Year Anniversary celebrations of the Asia Poker Tour continue with APT Taipei 2026 in full swing at Taipei City. Running frm April 22 to May 3, one of the highlight events of the series is the APT Super High Roller, attracting some of the region's best players with a TWD 15 million guarantee (~USD 480,000) for a hefty buy-in of TWD 330,000 (~USD 10,500).

Recent winners of this event include notable names like Thailand's Phanlert Sukonthachartnant, China's Mingcong Chen, Vietnam's Minh Quang and Czech Republic's Roman Hrabec, who have won the top prize of at least USD 180,000 and more, while lifting one of the tour's most coveted trophies - the APT Pewter Lion.

The most recent APT Super High Roller winner was China's Tony Ren Lin, who banked an astounding USD 275,220 from a juicy USD 1,103,880 prize pool during APT Jeju Classic 2026. Lin was also awarded a seat to APTC 2026 Main Event Championship to be held in Taipei later in November this year. Also booking a seat was runner-up Ryuta Nakai of Japan.

Apart from the prestigious trophy and the top cash prize, two APTC Main Event Championship seats will also be awarded in this APT Taipei 2026 edition.

Cards will be flying at 11:45 AM local time at the CTP Club Asia Poker Arena with registration open until the beginning of Level 12 at around 9PM. Sixteen 40-minute levels are expected to be completed today with the top survivors returning tomorrow morning to play until a champion is crowned.
