MANILA, PHILIPPINES, February 13, 2025 — The APT’s largest ever Philippines-based Main Event has reached the business end of the tournament, with the 1,202-strong field whittled down to the final 48 players.

Playing out in the Grand Ballroom of the prestigious Crowne Plaza Galleria and run in partnership with the Metro Card Club, the Day 3 action began with the 175 returning Main Event players already in the money, guaranteed at least a PHP 94,000 (~USD 1,615) slice of the PHP 62,311,680 (~USD 1,070,650) prize pool.

Play recommenced at level 18 with blinds of 4,000/8,000 with an 8,000 big blind ante, with the action playing out over six one-hour levels, with the elimination of Japan’s **Senan Inoue** at the hands of Hong Kong’s **Jie Zhang** concluding the day’s play.

Inoue hit the rail in 49th place for PHP 190,000 (~USD 3,265)—which is also what the next nine bust outs will receive—while Zhang rocketed into the end of day lead, sitting atop the summit of the leaderboard with 3,930,000 in chips with which to make his play for his maiden APT tournament title, the PHP 11,069,680 (~USD 190,200) top prize and APT Championship (APTC) ticket to the tour’s TWD 165 million guaranteed end-of-year poker extravaganza ¬– valued at TWD 350,000 (~USD 10,700).

Zhang is the only player sitting on over 3 million in chips, with the next closest competitor being Russia’s Alexander Ugay (2,335,000), with Austrian high roller Samuel Mullur (2,065,000) rounding out the top three stacks.

The rest of the field all sit below the 2 million chip mark, with other notables to bag a top ten stack including start-of-day chip leader Po-Shuo Huang (1,755,000), and OnLive Day 3 qualifier Rishi Mehra (1,465,000), with the top ten stacks as follows:

Of the seven returning female players who started Day 3 it was Vietnamese poker vlogger Ngoc Huyen Quach, aka “Gemmy” who continued to make the most headway, and Quach is one of just two remaining female players left in the Main Event, bagging up 665,000, with South Korean Japan permanent resident Hayama Miei aka Miyoung Cho (285,000) the other.

Japan’s Seina Asagiri (139th), Thailand’s Nattamon Kaweesorasak (146th), and Wipawadee Kanaraksapong (165th), and China’s Cai Xin Wong (156th) also displayed strong performances but fell short of making it deeper into the event.

Whatever happens over the next two days, one thing is guaranteed and that is the crowning of a brand new APT Main Event champion with the field’s three remaining former Main Event winners—Moses Saquing (78th for PHP 132,000), Mike Takayama (85th for PHP 132,000), and Yohn Paredes (107th for PHP 119,000)—all unable to survive the Day 3 action.
