TAIPEI, TAIWAN, April 23, 2026 – Run in partnership with the Chinese Texas Hold’em Poker Club (CTP) across two venues—the cavernous Red Space 多元商務空間 and the Asia Poker Arena—the APT Taipei 2026 has taken just three days to claim its place in the Asian Poker Tour record books.

It’s always a promising sign when the opening event of a poker festival breaks a record, and the TWD 12,000 (~USD 380) buy-in Event #1: National Cup – Sponsored by DeepRun has broken several.

It was the final two flights that propelled the tournament to the pinnacle, attracting a massive 2,940 entries in total over the six starting flights.

In addition to making this the largest side event in the APT’s 20-year history, eclipsing the record of 2,398 entries set during the APTC National Cup Championship just a scant five months prior, this monster field is the largest in tour history, period, besting the previous high of 2,547 set during the APT Taipei 2025 Main Event – formerly the largest poker tournament the tour has ever run.

While the National Cup has not surpassed the APT Taipei 2025 Main Event prize pool record, it has created the richest opening event prize pool the tour has ever generated, breaking the record set during the APT Taipei 2025 National Cup.

The TWD 15 million (~USD 477,000) guarantee was reached and breached mid way through Flight E, and the tournament will award a substantial TWD 28,929,600 (~USD 927,230) in prize money—an impressive 36 percent more than the APT Taipei 2025 National Cup—with 426 players claiming a share of the purse.

With the format paying out the top 14 percent of each flight, but only 5 percent of each flights’ field making it through to the Final Day, 21 percent of the prize money has already been awarded, although a hefty 22,785,100 (~USD 730,290) still remains in the Final Day prize pool.

A TWD 4,129,000 (~USD 132,340) top prize and an Asian Poker Tour Championship USD 5M GTD Main Event ticket await the eventual champion, in addition to the title, and silver lion silhouette National Cup trophy.

All final tablists will also be awarded a 30-day free DeepRun subscription package from the APT’s official strategy and training sponsor. Visit www.deeprun.com for more details.

Flight E

The fifth starting flight also earned a place in the APT record books, attracting a staggering 956 entries to break the tour’s largest single flight record and steal the APT Taipei 2025 National Cup’s thunder twice.

All of Red Space’s 98 tournament tables saw play over the course of the day (some for other events) as players duked it out over twenty-three 30-minute levels, all attempting to win their way through to the Final Day.

Just 143 players cashed for a share of the TWD 9,407,040 (~USD 301,510) Flight E prize pool, with places 49-143 chopping up TWD 2,045,500 (~USD 65,560)and 48 (the top 5 percent) making it through, along with the TWD 7,361,540 (~USD 235,945) in remaining Flight E prize money.
