TAIPEI, TAIWAN, November 15, 2025 – Welcome back readers to the APTC Daily Recap and Highlights for Day 2! The Championship is shaping up to be a colossal festival any poker player would dread missing out on.

The National Cup Championship has wrapped up its opening flights and sure enough, broke our all-time record for number of entries at 2,398 for a non-Main event tournament! As usual, you can check out our live reporting and coverage of the opening Championship event here.

The APTC opening weekend has gone beyond expectations after only two days of play, but there’s plenty more where that came from. Read on to take a peek at what else happened on Day 2 of the APTC.

Championship Heats Up

The National Cup Championship ended up being the largest non-Main Event tournament we’ve ever run, and of course there was no shortage of insane plays, sick runouts and bad beats.

One of those hands was a hand in Flight C, when Nien Hung Chiu faced elimination by Aussie poker veteran Robert Spano with just a flush draw holding the six of clubs. Find out what happened along with what Hong Kong livewire Nicholas Go humorously said after watching the hand unfold. Spano also spoke with live blogger Dan O'Hair to talk about his first APT experience.

In the same flight, live blogger Kai Cocklin was once again out and about and caught up with 2023 APT Summer Series Danang Main Event champion Shixiang Khoo about preparing for the biggest festival on the APT calendar.

Reflecting on the two years since his career-defining victory, Khoo spoke with pride about the development he has seen within the tour. “Oh, it’s definitely continued growing under great management. I feel that they have very good goals, and the scene in Asia has constantly been growing,” he shared.

Khoo also touched on the broader international shift happening in the region, noting how the Asian poker landscape has become a magnet for global players. “Asia is the market to be at, where you see more Europeans coming over to play more poker,” he said. “So we have to catch up on skills as well. We have to grind more hours, we have to have more associations within each country and within Asia itself to improve as a region.”

As for the side events, Jin Wang of China continued his impressive run by taking down Event #19: Hyper Turbo Home Games, remarkably securing back-to-back victories after winning the same event yesterday to make it two for two. With a couple of solid results already recorded earlier this year at APT Incheon, he is clearly carrying strong momentum into the Championship and looks to be in blistering form, certainly one to keep an eye on as the festival progresses.

In the women’s game, today’s tournament attracted 115 entries, a big increase from Day 1’s interaction at 77. Felicia Wong from Australia took down this one today. Will we see record-breaking numbers for the women’s game at the Championship? It’s looking likely as we build up to the APT Women's Championship - Sponsored by LIPS on 21 November.

With that, 570 entries made up TWD 9,383,970 in total prize pool played for on Day 2, not including of course the record-breaking National Cup Championship, which will see 336 players vying for a share of more than TWD 29 million tomorrow, potentially life-changing for whoever wins it.
