Day 1 of the TWD $150,000 APT Taipei Super High Roller sponsored by Natural8 is a wrap. A total of 117 entries created a total prize pool of TWD $15,888,600 (~$516,300) – the largest Super High Roller prize pool in the APT's fifteen year history.

The winner of this event will take home a whopping TWD 3,997,400 (~$129,900). Never in the history of the APT has a Super High Roller attracted so many entries.

Out of the 117 entries, 23 players bagged for Day 2 and 17 will make it into the money. The chip leader at the start of Day 2 will be Wing Po Liu from Hong Kong who ended the day with 2,815,000, just one big blind more than our number two in the charts Sam Fung Lam.

Other notables players that made Day 2 are bracelet winner Abhinav Iyer (2,200,000), Dutch pro Jimmy Pan (2,155,000), Japanese poker legend Jun Obara (1,770,000), and APT regular Jun Hao Wu (385,000).

APT Super High Roller Payouts

Natural8 ambassador and Thai poker pro Wongwichit Phachara has been eliminated from the Super High Roller. The well-liked Phachara jammed all-in from the cutoff in the last hand of the day and received a call from big bling Fung Sam Lam.

The board ran out 5 K 3 5 T , what meant we say our goodbyes to Phachara in 24th place. The final 23 players all made it to Day 2.

We arrived at table 28 when we saw Keng Yong Tan lead out 170,000 on a board of 6 2 7 J . Fung Sam Lam was in the tank and decided to make the call.

Tan only had 500,000 behind so a juicy river would possible see him jamming in. The K again gets checked by Lam and Tan goes deep in the tank. His body language said, "Jam!", but he checked to his relief as Lam was slow playing J 7 . Lam was hoping for a jam!

The action gets opened by Jun Obara UTG to 60,000. Wongwichit Phachara made the call from the big blind and we see a flop heads-up.

Phachara check-called Obara's c-bet on a board of A J 6 . The 3 got checked by both players as well as the 8 .

Obara showed A Q for top pair. Phachara couldn't beat that as he tabled K J . The Thai pro in deep trouble now as he is left with only 13 big blinds.

Just before the redraw we lost Julian Warhurst. In an all Australian battle Warhurst hit the rail by running into K K of Kharman. Warhurst himself had A 4 .

The flop gave Kharman right away his set K 3 2 , but Warhurst still had outs. The Q and 4 meant Warhurst busted in 25th. A frustrating day at the office for the Aussie that earlier saw his aces cracked by kings in a massive pot.

A redraw has just taken place at the final 24. We still have 28 minutes on the clock. The action is slow at the moment as all players are eyeing on making it to Day 2.

We are down to the final 32 players, this means we are breaking tables. We will play till the end of level 16.

We missed the exact preflop action but Jim Pan and Wing Po Liu saw a flop heads-up while the pot grew to 500,000.

The flop A A 9 received a small bet by Pan and Liu made a quick call. On the 4 turn and 7 river both players checked their option.

Pan showed J J , but did not win the hand as Liu showed Q Q .

Abhinav Iyer told us he folded ace-queen preflop an unfortunate needle flop after a good fold from the Indian.

Wu is on fire after he eliminated moments ago Kharman he now sends Changjie Zhang to the rail in a cooler situation.

The board ran out 8 A A 3 T . This meant Zhang was busted out of the tournament while Wu increased his stack to almost 900,000.

Multi tabling skills 101

As we arrived at table 28 we saw a preflop all-in between short stacked Adam Kharman from Australia and Peng Wu from Taiwan. Two seconds later we hear the dealer at table 27 also announcing an all-in. This was also a preflop all-in between the Joshua McCully and the massive stack of Yu-Chung Chang.

This is how it went down:

Kharman was in deep trouble as he tabled 5 5 against the 8 8 of Peng. The board ran out clean for the local player: 2 9 T 7 A .

On the other table we saw McCully all-in for his last 160,000 and he dominated Chang's A 5 with his A J . Just as on table 27 the hand that dominated scooped the pot as the board ran out T 6 A K 7 .

One Aussie hits the rail while the other found a crucial double.
