INCHEON, SOUTH KOREA, August 13, 2026 – The tournament tables of the palatial Paradise City Casino Resort were packed for Day 7 of the APT Incheon 2026 festival. The star attraction was the business end of the record-breaking Main Event, where the 207 Day 3 survivors jockeyed for position in the cash spots as the event played down to the final 47.

The other marquee highlight was Day 1 of the KRW 3 million (~USD 2,100) Zodiac Classic – Sponsored by Natural8, which set a new Incheon tour-stop record with an impressive 403-entry field consisting of established high-stakes tournament crushers and APT regulars.

Other side event action featured the final day of the 184-entry, two-day KRW 3 million High Roller, alongside 11 additional side events. Highlights included the KRW 800,000 (~USD 570) NL Hold’em Heads Up Best of 3, the KRW 700,000 (~USD 500) NL Hold’em, and the KRW 1.5 million (~USD 1,000) Women’s High Roller, as well as an eclectic mix of Stud, Omaha, Bounty, and Turbo tournaments—all detailed in the Day 7 side event press release.

Japan’s Shinichiro Kano Sets Pace for Final 47 in Record-Breaking APT Incheon Main Event

The record-breaking 1,393-entry APT Incheon 2026 Main Event was trimmed from 207 Day 3 starters down to just 47 survivors after nearly six 60-minute levels of topflight tournament action.

Each remaining player is guaranteed at least KRW 8,630,000 (~USD 6,165), but all eyes are set on the KRW 3,008,540,000 (~USD 2,148,960) prize pool’s top payout of KRW 523,720,000 (~USD 374,085) and the award-winning Gold Lion APT Main Event Trophy. On top of the prize money, the top three finishers will each lock up a USD 10,000 (~KRW 14M) seat to November’s APT Championship Main Event.

It is Japan’s Shinichiro Kano returning in the box seat for Day 4 with a stack of 3,050,000. As the only survivor to bag over 3 million, Kano will be hoping to improve on the run of form that saw him earn a career-best fourth-place finish in the APT Taipei 2025 Main Event.

China’s Zhentao Long sits just behind with a stack of 2,965,000 and will be hoping to spin this up into a maiden Main Event final table appearance and sixth overall APT final table showing.

Japan’s Yoko Sasaki (2,580,000) rounds out the top three, and is one of the field’s two remaining female players, the other being compatriot Nozomi Ota, who sits 20th in the counts with 1,210,000.

Superstar Challenge third-place finisher and two-time APT titlist Peng Chen (2,280,000) is also still in the running having bagged the fourth largest stack.

With the exit of APT Taipei 2023 Main Event winner Punnat Punsri (75th) the one guarantee in the next 48 hours is the fact that the APT Incheon 2026 will crown a brand new champion.

Phachara Wongwichit is hunting his second signature APT lion trophy

APT Taipei 2023 High Roller champion Phachara Wongwichit (1,835,000) is the only non-APT Championship signature Lion Trophy winner remaining in the field, with the Thai player bagging up a top ten stack.

Another APT Taipei 2023 Main Event finalist still in the running is Natural8 Ambassador Chih Wei Fan, who also bagged a top ten stack and will be returning with 1,720,000 chips with which to make his latest APT title run.

APTC 2025 High Roller Championship winner Toby Joyce (705,000) has a chance to follow in Australian Julian Warhurst’s footsteps and become the second-ever player to win an APT Championship Mega Lion trophy and an APT Signature Lion trophy.

Other notables still in the running include Malaysian bracelet winner Chin Wei “Webster” Lim (1,255,000), the USA’s Yifu He (1,010,000), Serbia’s Toni Ravnak (985,000), and the UK’s Jun Li (615,000).

The Day 4 action resumes at 11:15am (KST) on Friday, August 14, where the 47 remaining survivors will play down to the final table.

Kosaku Akashi is hunting his third career APT title in the Zodiac Classic

The KRW 3 million (~USD 2,100) Zodiac Classic – Sponsored by Natural8 set a new Incheon tour-stop record, attracting 403 entries (303 unique) to surpass the previous benchmark set in 2025.

Day 1 wrapped up after thirteen 40-minute levels, generating a venue-record KRW 1,044,576,000 (~USD 746,125) prize pool. A total of 55 players will reach the money, each locked in for at least KRW 5,050,000 (~USD 3,600), while the eventual champion will walk away with the KRW 199,966,000 (~USD 142,830) top prize and a USD 10,000 (~KRW 14M) seat to November’s APT Championship Main Event.

Just 134 players survived to bag chips at the conclusion of the action, with two-time APT titlist Kosaku Akashi of Japan sitting at the summit of the Day 1 chip counts with a stack of 407,000.

Thailand’s Tattana Pengduen (370,000), and two-time bracelet winner Renji Mao of China (363,500) round out the top three, with Australia’s Aaron Lim (277,500) also bagging a top ten stack:
