PHU QUOC, VIETNAM, March 24, 2023 – Welcome to the APT Phu Quoc 2023 for the second Asian Poker Tour (APT) event of 2023, with the Sapphire Conference Room at the luxurious Corona Resort & Casino playing host to the 10-day, 40-event series.

This will be the second time the APT has visited the prime location of Pearl Island, with Vietnam's Hue Dang defeating a 378-strong Main Event field to claim the lions share of the ₫5.49 billion (~$240,000) prize pool and take home the ₫1,220,590,000 (~$53,346) top prize the last time around.

Expectations are high for another great turnout, with the opening event – the APT Kickoff – drawing 196 entries, which you can read all about below.

Running March 24-April 2 the APT Phu Quoc boasts a ₫10 billion (~$420,000) Main Event guarantee but there are a whole host of other tournaments on offer ranging from Crazy Pineapple and 3-card Super Hold'em to mixed NLH/PLO events, with highlights including:

Fittingly, it was the ₫8,000,000+800,000 Event #1 APT Kickoff kickstarting the Series action at 12pm local time (GMT+7), with the opening Flight A drawing 108 entries.

The second starting Flight B saw a further 88 players in action, bringing the total number of entries up to 196 (125 unique) bringing the total prize pool up to ₫1,520,960,000 (~$65,400).

With the top 14 percent of the field from each respective starting flight making Day 2 and the money, a total of 16 players made the cut from Flight A, with a further 13 making it through from Flight B.

All 29 survivors are now in the money, with a min-cash good for ₫13,620,000 ($585), but it is the **₫327,760,000 ($14,090) top prize** all will be aiming for.

It was Portugal's Jose Catela the man to top the Flight A chip counts, bagging up a respectable 445,000 after the seventeen 30-minute levels played out, putting him second in the overall pecking order coming into the second and final day.

Morocco's Ahmed Ibrahimi (285,000) bagged the second largest Flight A stack, and will be returning fifth in the overall counts, with India's Nishant Sharma (265,000) rounding out the top 3 Flight A stacks, with the top ten as follows:

However, the man in the box seat is Mongolia's Batmunkh Batkhuyag who dominated a great deal of the Flight B action to bag the largest overall stack.

Batkhuyag was the only player to crack the 500k chip mark and will be returning for the final day with a stack of 516,000.

India's Alok Birewar concluded Flight B with the second-largest stack of 438,000, which puts him third in the overall counts, with Vietnam's Minh Huu (310,000) rounding out the triumvirate of Flight B's largest stacks, with the top ten as follows:

The 29 survivors will unite for the first time for the second and final day, which plays out at 12pm local time (GMT+7) on Saturday, March 25, and the tournament will play down to a champion.

South Korea's Min Ho Cho Wins Maiden APT Title in Event #2 Omaholic

All the action was not limited to the Kickoff, with Pot Limit Omaha aficionados catered for with the ₫5,000,000+500,000 Event #2: Omaholic – Turbo drawing 16 entries (13 unique).

This generated a ₫77,600,000 (~$3,335) prize pool, with South Korea's Min Ho Cho the man to snag the trophy and the ₫37,250,000 (~$1,600) top prize.

Cho defeated India's Karan Kapur heads-up to claim his maiden APT title, with Kapur receiving ₫24,830,000 (~$1,065) for his runner-up finish.

It was another Indian player – Vikhyat Ahlawat – rounding out the winner's podium, claiming bronze and ₫15,520,000 (~$665) for his third-place finish.
