TAIPEI, TAIWAN, April 24, 2026– Day 3 of APT Taipei 2026 has arrived and what a day it has been! Today is the first day that the festival splits into two venues, and players have flooded both venues, raising anticipation levels with plenty of action to be had.

There is plenty to go over today, with the festival opener, APT National Cup breaking several records with both its final flights playing out today. The team on the ground has also managed to grab hold of one of Europe’s staunch supporters of mixed games, even introducing one into the festival schedule. Read on to find out more.

Day 3 Heats Up as Players Shuffle to Two Venues

Day 3 of APT Taipei 2026 delivered a historic milestone for the Tour, as the APT National Cup officially became the largest side event in APT history. Following the conclusion of the final two starting flights, Flight E and Flight F, the festival opener surged to a staggering 2,940 entries, generating a record-breaking prize pool of TWD 28,929,620 (~USD 924,270). In doing so, it not only surpassed the previous benchmarks set at APT Taipei 2025, but also established new all-time records for both field size and prize pool for a festival opener.

With the National Cup now firmly etched into the APT record books, attention turns to the Final Day, where the remaining players will return to compete for one of the most prestigious early titles on the schedule.

Running alongside this record-setting start is another key storyline shaping APT Taipei 2026, the growing presence of mixed games and the arrival of Sviten Special on Asian soil. Leading that charge is Martin ‘Franke’ von Zweigbergk, who has travelled to Taipei with a group of 12 players from Europe, bringing both experience and a distinct mixed-game culture to the festival floor .

Speaking to Matthew Ooi, Media Coordinator for the Asian Poker Tour, Franke talks about championing alternative formats through initiatives like The Festival Series and his current mission in Taipei: to introduce Sviten Special to a new audience and expand its global reach. With APT offering one of the most diverse mixed-game schedules in the region, Taipei provides the ideal stage for this crossover, as players look beyond No-Limit Hold’em and embrace the broader spectrum of poker variants now gaining traction across the Tour.
