Luong Duy Hieu

Vietnam's own Luong Duy Hieu came through the second opening flight of the VND 35,000,000 APT Main Event with the biggest stack after bagging up 323,100 chips. A total of 198 entries (143 unique) were recorded, with 73 making it through the day, which brings the cumulative total of entries in the Main Event to 388.

Former APT Main Event champion Hai Nam Hoang came through in second place with an impressive stack of 267,200. Hoang won the Main Event back in February at APT Hanoi for a huge payday of VND 2,794,200,000 (~$119,000) and is looking to emulate that success here in Da Nang.

Leroy Fan pulled through in third with a stack of 254,600 to bring forward into Day 2. The Irishman already has a final table appearance under his belt this series after finishing sixth in the APT Kickoff for VND 126,530,000 (~$5,360).

Renji Mao

Bracelet winner Renji Mao fired off four bullets today and does bring through 37,000 chips into Day 2 but will have a lot of work to do if he wants to find the same success he had this summer in Las Vegas. Mao won an $800 bracelet event for a massive $402,588 which is by far his biggest-ever score in a live poker event.

Thailand's Kiwanont Sukhum also managed to find a bag for the day and brings through 135,700 chips. Sukhum won the largest-ever Mystery Bounty Hunter event in Taipei after outlasting a field of 670 players and bagged himself TWD 1,173,100 ($38,100) for his win.

Other notables to make it through were Quan Qiu (232,000), John Bonadies (155,000), Craig Trevenna (117,200), Ngoc Dai Nguyen (114,800), Nguyen Thi Bao An (101,600), and Nguyen Trung Quan (75,600).

Ratheshan Kulenthirarasa

In one of the final hands of the evening, Trung Thuy Duong opened 2,500 under the gun and got called by Quan Qiu on his left.

On the button, Ratheshan Kulenthirarasa squeezed the action with a raise to 9,000, and both players called.

The flop was 5 3 Q and Duong and Qiu checked to Kulenthirarasa who continuation bet for 10,000 which was met by a check-raise to 25,000 from Duong, Qiu folded to let them battle it out, and Kulenthirarasawent went into the tank, in the end, he moved all in for 37,500 and was called by Duong very quickly.

Kulenthirarasa just needed to fade a fatal jack and he would have a decent stack going into Day 2, the turn was the 5 and river 4 giving Kulenthirarasa a full double up.

The tournament director has announced that five more hands will be played in Flight B before all remaining players bag up their chips for Day 2 which plays out on Thursday.

Craig Trevenna earlier in the week playing the Mystery Bounty Hunter

Craig Trevenna was just given a lifeline in this last level of the APT Main Event by tripling up with a rivered flush.

We only caught the hand at showdown with Trevenna, Nguyen Hoang Long, and Tarush Gupta all involved.

The board read 5 4 J 9 Q and Long had J T for second pair. Trevenna tabled K 8 for a rivered flush which took down the A A of India's Gupta!

Gupta was only kept alive after winning the small side pot against Long but it's Australia's Trevenna who comes out on top and finds himself a triple up in the last level of play today.

Kay Yan was the table short stack with only 15,000 and when it folded round to him on the button he felt this was the best opportunity he was going to get to make something happen, so he moved all in.

He only had the blinds to get through but that didn't happen as Suit Popityukkuk snap-called and Yan's tournament life was at risk.

Popityukkuk would have taken a chop if that came available, but it didn't happen as the board ran out 8 J 3 4 A and Yan's six kicker gets him a full double up.

In the last level of the day Nguyen Trung Quan opened to 2,400 in early position and got a call from one of the room chip leaders in Dongkyu Kim, next it was on Renhao Yao who decided now was the time to play for all of his chips and he went all in for a total of 22,000.

Back on Quan who choose to fold, but Kim instantly called with his monumental chip stack and the cards were on their back.

The board ran out 9 4 2 J 5 and Yao earns a much-needed double up, Kim still has a lot of chips but that is not how he wants to end the day.

We walked passed one of the tables to see three players all in pre-flop.

Lam had the bigger stack and was looking to score a double knockout but had a lot of work to do as his hand was currently in last place. Liu was ahead but also the shortest stack so had to beat both Lam and Lim if he wanted to stay alive.

The flop of 6 7 6 changed nothing and neither did the :6d turn as it left Lam needing a king and Lim needing to hit an ace or a jack to scoop the pot.

Lim was in luck as the river J gave him a higher pair and he effectively tripled up whilst sending Liu to the sidelines in the process.

Before the hand started Matthew Bevin noted to the other players about the number of people that had rebought on his table, one of those players was Tong Van Viet on the button.

When the action got to Viet he raised to 2,500 on Bevin's big blind, Bevin defended with a mountain of chips and they went to the flop.

The flop was 9 2 5 and Bevin checked to Viet who bet 2,800, Bevin stuck around with a call.

The turn came the 8 and both the players checked to see a 9 river, this is where Bevin bet out for 2,700.

Viet wasn't going to be bullied so easily and raised to 10,500, back on Bevin who seemed unsure what to make of this bet but eventually curiosity got the better of him and he called to be shown trips nines by Viet with J 9 . Bevin mucked and Viet's stack started to go in the right direction.

Zhenwei Zhou has just eliminated Yao Yu Ho from the Main Event.

Ho got the last of his chips in with A 6 and ran into the A T of Zhou. Ho got no help from the board as it ran out A 7 3 9 Q which earned Zhou the pot and sent Ho Ho-me.
