Play in the JOPT 2026 Tokyo Running July 16-20 and Win APT Credits

While most of the poker world’s attention is focused on Las Vegas for the World Series of Poker (WSOP) this summer, there are other options available for Asia-based players looking for some tournament action.

The Asian Poker Tour’s official partner, the Japan Open Poker Tour (JOPT), is running the JOPT 2026 Tokyo poker series from Thursday, July 16 to Monday, July 20 at the Belle Salle Takadanobaba Event Venue in Shinjuku City, Tokyo.

Featuring a NLH Main Event with a JPY 120,000 (~USD 750) buy-in, the festival offers tournaments with buy-ins ranging from JPY 10,000 (~USD 60) all the way up to JPY 500,000 (~USD 3,000) across a range of poker variants including No Limit Hold’em, Pot Limit Omaha, and mixed game formats.

It is important to note that any prizes won come in the form of player contracts (which are essentially tournament credits) which can be used in domestic Japan-based tournaments and a plethora of international tournaments, such as the APT, or WSOP.

Players competing in the APT sponsored JPY 500,000 (~USD 3,000) buy-in Event #41 NLH Platinum Sponsored by APT and the JPY 300,000 (~USD 1,850) buy-in Event #58 NLH Crown Sponsored by APT can also win APT tournament vouchers ranging from USD 500 to USD 1,500 in addition to the other prizes on offer in the event. The winners of the two tournaments will also receive the brand new APT Challenge Trophy.

You don’t even need to come to the festival to win tournament credits for international festivals as the JOPT has also launched a brand-new poker app; JOPT Games.

Launched on June 17, in addition to being able to compete in poker tournaments on your smartphone, the app also offers players opportunities to qualify for live events such as the upcoming APT Incheon 2026 (running Friday, August 7 to Sunday, August 16), or the World Series of Poker (WSOP).

Players can compete in No Limit Hold’em, Pot Limit Omaha, and 6+ ring games and also play for free via a series of satellites where you can qualify for multiple live poker tours.

You can advance from the free trial, through the satellite finals, and aim to perform at the live event. Each time you finish high in each stage, you'll earn a ticket to advance to the next stage.

"We are very pleased to further strengthen our partnership with APT through the launch of JOPT GAMES. Through JOPT GAMES, we aim to create a new online gateway that allows Japanese players to discover APT more easily, feel more connected to APT events, and take their first step toward participating in major live poker events around the world.”

“We look forward to developing further collaboration with APT, including future APT satellite opportunities on JOPT GAMES, and to creating more accessible pathways for Japanese players to challenge themselves on the international stage." JOPT CEO Tsubasa Kamei

For more information, visit the Japan Poker Open website and you can read about the JOPT Games app in more detail here.

There will also be an APT booth at the JOPT 2026 Tokyo festival where players can sign up for the APT directly.

Any players visiting the booth receive an APT patch, and players signing up for APT membership at the booth will receive a free pack of APT branded playing cards.

Players signing up for APT at the JOPT festival will also be entered into a lucky draw where they can win free APT merchandise.
