PHU QUOC, VIETNAM, March 26, 2023 – Playing out in the Sapphire Conference Room at the luxurious Corona Resort & Casino the APT Phu Quoc is into its third day and the action is beginning to simmer.

One of the key ingredients bringing it to the boil was the final table of the record-breaking ₫80,000,000+8,000,000 Event #5 APT Super High Roller – 8 Max; With a ₫4,345,600,000 (~$186,860) prize pool on the line and all returning eight players in the money, the tournament played out to a thrilling conclusion midway through the day.

It was Vietnam's Quan Trung Nguyen the man to take down the largest Super High Roller field in Asian Poker Tour history for a payday of ₫1,196,680,000 (~$51,450).

Quan defeated a 56-strong field comprised of 34 unique entries to make his first live title score and maiden APT title win a memorable one.

The Vietnamese player came into the offical eight-handed final table as the third largest stack and made his play for the title with four remaining, scoring a shock double elimination to take play heads-up against his sole remaining opponent – Mongolia's Anarbayasgalan Sainjargal – with a commanding 8-to-1 chip lead.

The duo opted to cut a deal rather than play it out, with Sainjargal netting a bonus of ₫107,000,000 ($4,600) above the designated second-place payout to bring his total tournament haul up to ₫1,050,000,000 ($45,150), while Quan took both the trophy and title.

Another notable who enjoyed a deep run in the event was Yake Wu – the Chinese player falling victim to Quan's final table double-elimination rampage to exit in third place for ₫608,380,000 (~$26,160).

Two former APT Main Event champions also final tabled, with India's Shardul Parthasarathi locking up a sixth place finish for ₫278,120,000 ($11,960), and the Philippines' Mike Takayama coming in seventh for ₫221,630,000 ($9,530), with the final table paying out as follows:

Playing out concurrently with the APT Super High Roller, the final day of the ₫9,000,000+900,000 Event #5 Mystery Bounty Hunter – Sponsored by Natural8 saw the 31 survivors of the 214-strong field returning to action, all guaranteed a share of the ₫1,868,220,000 (~$80,330) prize pool.

It was Japan's Kaito Hirai the man crowned champion, defeating the Philippines' Lester Edoc to take the title after an epic 90-minute three-level long heads-up battle.

Hirai battled back from a 3-to-1 chip deficit to clinch his maiden APT title and the ₫261,960,000 (~$11,265) top prize – in addition to snagging a further ₫253,600,000 in bounties to bring his total haul up to ₫515,560,000 (~$22,170).

Edoc, who was on the hunt for his 17th APT title, was forced to settle for the ₫176,150,000 (~$7,575) on offer for second place, with the official eight-handed final table paying out as follows:

All the high-rolling action was not limited to the APT Super High Roller, with the ₫50,000,000+5,000,000 Event #9 Single Day High Roller – 8 Max attracting 54 entries (42 unique) and generating a ₫2,619,000,000 (~$112,620) prize pool.

It was Japan's Nobuaki Sasaki who would prove victorious in the second of the APT Phu Quoc 2023 High Roller tournaments, defeating China's Yuan Yilu after a lengthy three level 90-minute long heads-up confrontation.

Sasaki scored his first APT title victory and scooped the ₫785,700,000 (~$33,000) top prize, while Yilu received ₫568,320,000 (~$23,870) for his runner-up finish.

Proving his victory in the APT Kickoff was no fluke, Morocco's Ahmed Ibrahimi has chalked up back-to-back title wins, taking down the ₫8,000,000+800,000 Event #8 Sunday Super Stack.

The tournament drew a field of 119 entries (93 unique), generating a ₫923,440,000 (~$39,700) prize pool, with Ibrahimi claiming the ₫232,340,000 (~$9,760) top prize after besting Thailand's Eakkapon Lertkai heads-up.

That brings the Moroccan's haul up to ₫560,100,000 so far, with the Series not even at the halfway point.

While Lertkai put up a valient effort, the Thai player had to be content with ₫156,980,000 (~$6.590) for his runner-up finish.

India's Dhaval Mudgal also claimed his second cash of the series, finishing in fifth place for ₫68,150,000.

It was Vietnam's Tran Minh Nhat Ngo the man to claim gold and the ₫74,200,000 (~$3,190) top prize, defeating Indonesia's Jeffry Kurniawan.

Kurniawan received ₫51,290,000 ($2,205) for his runner-up finish winning his maiden APT title in the process, with Russia's Nikolay Ponomarenko taking bronze and the ₫32,740,000 ($1,410) on offer for third-place.

Another APT side event is in the books, with the fourth trophy of the Series awarded in the Event #6 ₫5,000,000+500,000 Turbo, which played out in the early hours of Sunday morning, with Natural8 Ambassador Phachara Wongwichit claiming his fifth APT title.

Wongwichit triumphed over a 56-strong field (41 unique) to take the lion's share of the ₫271,600,000 (~$11,680) prize pool, defeating South Korea's Joohyun Park heads-up to claim the ₫81,490,000 (~$3,505) top prize.

The Thai native sits at #3 on the Thailand All-Time Money List, boasting over $1.9 million in live tournament winnings, and can now add another notch to an impressive poker resume that dates back to 2011.

Park, who was on the hunt for his first APT title, had to settle for the ₫58,940,000 (~$2,535) on offer for second place.

Thailand's Gatmanee Jitlert rounded out the winner's podium, taking ₫38,020,000 (~$1,635) for third, with eight players in total making the money with the tournament paying out as follows:
