HANOI, VIETNAM 2023, December 2, 2023 – The ten-day APT Hanoi Billions 2023, running December 1-10 at the iconic Hanoi National Convention Center (NCC) in partnership with Vietnam Series of Poker (VSOP) is building up a head of steam.
In addition to the dual record-breaking Vietnam National Cup playing down to a thrilling conclusion, the second day of the series saw a further two records fall.
The opening Flight A of the VND 11M Event #9: Mystery Bounty Hunter (Top Bounty VND 500,000,000 GTD) - Sponsored by Natural8 smashed the current tour Mystery Bounty record, drawing 693 entries – 23 more than the previous record field set during April's APT Taipei. A futher 422 entries joined the Flight B action, setting the new APT Mystery Bounty record at 1,115 entries (759 unique).
The VND 120M APT Super High Roller also made tour history, attracting its largest-ever field of 156 entries (115 unique), making it the largest VND 100M-200M (~$4,120-$8,230) buy-in tournament to ever run in Vietnam.
Anticipation is building for the arrival of the VND 36M APT Main Event on Monday, December 4, which promises to raise the bar still further.
Chu Van Tien Defeats Largest Field in APT History Winning Record-Breaking Vietnam National Cup
Vietnam's Chu Van Tien made his maiden tournament title win a memorable one, winning the APT's largest-ever event
Boasting the Asian Poker Tour's largest-ever field, the second and final day of the VND 5M Vietnam National Cup saw 212 entries out of a record 1,527 return to action.
All remaining players were already guaranteed a payday of VND 8,230,000 (~$340), but all were firmly focused on etching their place in the APT history books and claiming the lion's share of the VND 6,665,355,000 (~$275,370) prize pool.
Fittingly, it was a Vietnamese player claiming the crown, with Flight B frontrunner Chu Van Tien the man to take it down, cutting an ICM chip chop deal with heads-up opponent Elliot Damashek to take a VND 954,000,000 (~$39,275) top prize.
Tien came into Day 2 with the chip lead and remained among the top stacks for the majority of the action, only dropping down to the short stack on the final table.
However, a timely double-up at the expense of Damashek when play was three-handed brought the Vietnamese player back from the brink. Tien then knocked out the Philippines' Cezar Quiambao in third place to retake the lead.
This result marks a career-defining score for Tien, eclipsing his only other live score by a staggering 3,476 percent!
The USA's Damashek also bagged a career-best score, earning a VND 892,865,000 (~$36,760) payout for his runner-up finish.
Quiambao took a payout of VND 472,990,000 (~$19,470) for his third-place finish – the third-largest cash of his poker career.
Other notables to win their way through to the last nine included Hong Kong's Alan Pun (5th for VND 272,620,000/~$11,220), and the Philippines' William Ysmael (7th for VND 159,360,000/~$6,560), with the final table paying out as follows:

Hong Kong's Hon Cheong "Ivan" Lee Leads Largest-Ever APT Super High Roller
Hong Kong's Hon Cheong "Ivan" Lee is gunning for his first APT title in the largest APT Super High Roller in history
The first of the series flagship events, the VND 120M Event #10: APT Super High Roller, got underway at 1:15pm local time, drawing the largest APT Super High Roller field ever assembled.
By the time registration closed at 8:40pm, a total of 156 entries (115 unique) had entered the tournament arena, setting a new record for the event and generating a sizable VND 16,947,840,000 (~$697,750) prize pool – absolutely destroying the VND 4BN (~$164K) guarantee by a massive 323 percent!

A total of 23 players will make the money, with the eventual winner walking away with a VND 3,940,430,000 (~$162,225) top prize as well as a place in the APT annuals of history.
Just 30 players remain in contention after the sixteen 40-minute levels played out, with Hong Kong's Hon Cheong "Ivan" Lee putting on a stellar performance to bag up a stack of 4,125,000 – valued at 103 big blinds when the Day 2 action resumes.
Lee leads the field comfortably, sitting 28 big blinds ahead of next closest rival Taago Tamm, with the Estonian bagging a stack of 3,005,000 (75 big blinds).
Japan's Nozomu Shimizu enjoyed the rub of the green on the last few levels played to power into third on the leaderboard, bagging a stack of 2,725,000 – valued at 68 big blinds, and will be looking to improve on his runner-up finish in this very same event back during August's APT Incheon 2023.
Other notables to bag big included Indian bracelet winner Abhinav Iyer (1,595,000), and Natural8 Ambassador Eric "Six Poker" Ting-Yi Tsai (1,560,000) with the top ten stacks as follows:

Vietnam's Hung Dao Ngoc topped Flight A of the Mystery Bounty
The second of the Hanoi Billions marquee events, the VND 11M Event #9: Mystery Bounty Hunter (Top Bounty VND 500,000,000 GTD) - Sponsored by Natural8 was the second event of the day to set a new APT record.
The action got underway at 1pm, with Flight A drawing 693 entries (592 unique) – breaking both the event field-size record and beating the guarantee on the opening flight.
A further 422 entries (377 unique) joined the action for Flight B, bringing the total number of entries up to 1,115 (759 unique) – setting a new APT Mystery Bounty Hunter record.
The prize pool stands at VND 7,027,845,000 (~$289,330), with an additional VND 3,679,500,000 (~$151,480)in the bounty pool. The top 157 places will pay out and the eventual winner will walk away with a VND 1,273,625,000 (~$52,430) top prize.
In addition to this, the tournament also boasts the largest Mystery Bounty top prize the event has ever posted, worth an impressive VND 1 billion (~$41,170).

It is Vietnam's Dao Ngoc Hung who will be returning in the box seat, leading the 97 Flight A survivors after bagging up a stack of 1,186,000.
Compatriot Dao Van Hien was the only other player to bag a seven-figure stack, concluding play with 1,015,000 – putting him second in the overall pecking order.
Rene Cifuentes (925,000) rounded out the top three Flight A stacks, and the Spaniard will be returning as the fourth-largest stack when play resumes on Day 2, with the top ten Flight A stacks as follows:

Australia's Justin Tsui bagged biggest on Flight B of the largest-ever Mystery Bounty
A further 60 players out of the 422 Flight B entries fought their way through to Day 2, with Australia's Justin Tsui leading the charge, bagging up a stack of 945,000 – putting him third in the overall chip counts.
India's Siddharth Mundada (903,000), and Singapore's Ken Tan (848,000) rounded out the top three Flight B stacks, with the top ten as follows:
