Hong Kong’s Kevin Choi Scores Stud Status with Event #67: Limit - Triple Stud Victory

The KRW 600,000 Event #67: Limit - Triple Stud (Razz, Stud, Stud Hi-Lo) drew 26 entries (23 unique) with the action playing out over twenty-five 25-minute levels as players battled it out for a share of the KRW 13,618,800 (~USD 10,015) prize pool.

It was Hong Kong’s Kevin Choi who affirmed his stud status, showcasing his seven-card skills to best effect by overcoming the USA’s Louis Henry heads-up to claim a KRW 5,728,800 (~USD 4,220) top prize, and his maiden APT title.

Henry, making his third final table of the festival, earned a KRW 3,810,000 (~USD 2,800) payout for his runner up finish, with China’s Jun Weng banking KRW 2,450,000 for third. APT Taipei 2024 Main Event champion Daisuke Ogita was the only other player to make the money, following up his deep run in the Jeju Main Event with a fourth-place finish, which was good for KRW 1,630,000.

Taiwan’s En Hao Chan Claims Maiden APT Title in Event #69: Turbo

The KRW 600,000 Event #69: Turbo got underway at 7pm on Friday, May 3 with the tournament drawing 60 entries (51 unique) and generating a KRW 31,428,000 (~USD 23,180) prize pool.

The action played out over eighteen 15-minute levels with Taiwan’s En Hao Chan topping the tournament, defeating Malaysia’s Joshua Tan heads-up to claim his maiden APT title and a KRW 9,168,000 (~USD 6,760) top prize.

Tan took KRW 6,600,000 (~USD 4,865) for his runner-up finish, with China’s Nan Zhu rounding out the podium and earning a KRW 4,290,000 (~USD 3,160) pay-out for third place.

Other notables to cash included former Main Event champion Yohn Paredes (5th), and Canada’s Sam Insole (7th), with nine players making the money and the tournament paying out as follows:

Japan’s Suguru Nogi Wins Maiden Live Title in Event #70: Turbo PL Omaha High - 5 Card

Getting underway at 8pm local time, the KRW 400,000 Event #70: Turbo PL Omaha High - 5 Card attracted a 36-strong field (28 unique), generating a KRW 12,431,520 (~USD 9,170) prize pool.

It took Japan’s Suguru Nogi twenty-one fast-paced 15-minute levels to chew his way through the field, defeating India’s Ish Agarwal heads-up to make his maiden live tournament score a memorable one.

Nogi earned a KRW 4,601,520 (~USD 3,390) top prize in addition to claiming his first APT title, with Agarwal taking KRW 3,170,000 (~USD 2,340) for his runner-up finish.

Australia’s Joan Allen made her second final table showing of the series, earning KRW 2,020,000 (~USD 1,490) for third place, with China’s Dajia Chen (4th) and Malaysia’s Lance Goh (5th) the only other players to make the money, with the tournament paying out as follows:

Vietnam’s Phuong Ngoc Nguyen has gone from zero career APT titles to two this festival, claiming his second title of the series in the KRW 500,000 Event #71: Hyper Turbo.

Nguyen triumphed over an 86-strong field (72 unique) to take the lion’s share of the **KRW 37,121,900 (~USD 27,380) prize pool, besting China’s Li Wei Chen heads-up to claim a KRW 10,201,900 (~USD 7,515) top prize.

Chen earned KRW 7,260,000 (~USD 5,350) for his runner-up finish, with former Main Event champion Dicky Tsang rounding out the podium places and taking KRW 4,750,000 (~USD 3,500) for third place. A total of 11 players made the money, with the tournament paying out as follows:

China’s Yang Lu Scores Series Triple Crown in Event #72: Hyper Turbo - NL Single Draw Mix

China’s Yang Lu has become the first player of the festival to claim three series titles, earning his latest in the KRW 300,000 Event #72: Hyper Turbo - NL Single Draw Mix (A-5, 2-7, High), which drew a field of 26 entries (23 unique).

It took Lu nineteen turbo-charged 10-minute levels to score his series triple crown and seize the largest portion of the KRW 6,658,080 (~USD 4,910) prize pool, overcoming seasoned tournament grinder Jeffrey Lo of Hong Kong to snag a KRW 2,798,080 (~USD 2,060) top prize, in addition to his third Baby Lion trophy of the festival.

Lo has enjoyed a stellar series so far, earning a runner-up finishes in Event #9 APT Super High Roller and Event #32 Turbo High Roller, in addition to a third-place finish in Event #39 Limit Triple Draw Lowball Mix, and locked up a further KRW 1,860,000 (~USD 1,370) for his fourth final table showing.

Li-Ta “Leon” Hsu is another who has made multiple final tables this series, with the Taiwanese player earning an additional KRW 1,200,000 (~USD 880) for his fifth final table showing. Australia’s Matthew Ginn was the only other player to make the money, with the tournament paying out as follows:

The trend of players making multiple series titles continued in the KRW 300,000 Event #73: Super Hyper Turbo, with China’s Lei Li following up his maiden APT title victory in Event #58 Single Day High Roller - Big Bounty (KRW 3M) - Winner Take All.

Li saw off challenges from a 72-strong field (64 unique) to claim the lion’s share of the KRW 18,437,760 (~USD 13,600) prize pool, denying compatriot Wei Zhao a second series title and taking a KRW 5,377,760 (~USD 3,960) top prize.

Zhao earned a KRW 3,870,000 (~USD 2,850) payout for his runner-up finish and fourth cash of the festival, with Japan’s Nobuhiro Fujii rounding out the podium and banking KRW 2,520,000 (~USD 1,860) for third place.
