Championships Event Day 1A draws 122 entries; Mark Reyes bags the chip lead, Ben Lai a close second

With the APT Taiwan 2019 Main Event wrapped up, we moved right into the second featured event the TWD 5 Million guaranteed CHAMPIONSHIPS EVENT. Buy-in for this event was much higher coming in at TWD 49,500. 122 runners turned up at the CTP Club – Chinese Texas Hold’em Poker Association for Day 1A which means, we’ve already surpassed the guarantee. With Day 1B still to come, expect the guaranteed prize pool to double up and more.

By the end of the scheduled 8 rounds, exactly half bumped the rail leaving 61 players at bagging time. Two players packed up dominating big stacks, a clear cut distance from the rest of the crew. At the top was the Short Deck event champion, Filipino player Mark Reyes with 358,200 and right at his heels was UK’s Ben Lai with 353,800. These are the players to measure up to coming Day 1B.
