APT Taipei 2024: Side Event Action from Day 12 of the Series

Event #108: PL Omaha High / Hi-Lo Mix - 5 Card - 8 Max

The last of the series Omaha events – the TWD 10,000 Event #108: PL Omaha High / Hi-Lo Mix - 5 Card - 8 Max – drew a 31-strong field (21 unique), generating a TWD 267,623 (~USD 8,510) prize pool with the action playing out over twenty-two 25-minute levels.

It was Taiwan’s Yu Jay Shih who claimed the accolades and the **TWD 108,522 (~USD 3,450) top prize, defeating Hong Kong’s Jie Zhang heads-up to earn his maiden APT title, with the latter collecting TWD 75,000 (~USD 2,385) for his runner-up finish.

Hong Kong’s Wai Tak Chong rounded out the podium taking TWD 48,000 (~USD 1,525) for third place, with Australia’s Jarryd Godena and Hong Kong’s Wai Shing Chan the only other players to make the money, with the tournament paying out as follows:

Event #109: Last Chance - High Roller

The TWD 100,000 Event #109: Last Chance - High Roller does just what it says on the tin, giving the festival’s high roller contingent that last gasp chance to claim fortune and glory. This saw 42 high rolling entries in action (36 unique) battling for a TWD 3,666,600 (~USD 116,630) prize pool over twenty-three 25-minute levels.

It was Vietnam’s Quang Huy Nguyen who seized his last chance, narrowly pipping Australia’s John “Burt” Perry to the posts to claim the TWD 1,245,600 (~USD 39,600) top prize and his second APT title, denying Perry his first and leaving the Aussie to settle for the TWD 862,000 (~USD 27,400) on offer for second.

It was another Antipodean claiming bronze, with Yoon Koo Kang collecting TWD 550,000 (~USD 17,480) for third place. Other notables to cash included Hong Kong’s Edward Yam, and Vincent Li with six players making the money and the tournament paying out as follows:

Taiwan’s TaoWei Chang Clinches Maiden APT Title in Event #110: Turbo - Short Deck - Double Chance - 6 Max

The TWD 11,000 Event #110: Turbo - Short Deck - Double Chance - 6 Max saw 34 (23 unique) short deck aficionados in action, duking it out for a share of the TWD 322,874 (~USD 10,260) prize pool.

It took Taiwan’s TaoWei Chang fifteen fast-paced 15-minute levels to see off the opposition, defeating Natural8 ambassador Phachara Wongwichit heads-up to bank a TWD 119,874 (~USD 3,810) top prize and claim his maiden APT title and the Baby Lion trophy.

Wongwichit received a TWD 82,000 (~USD 2,600) for his fouth final table appearance of the festival, with triple series title winner Edward Yam making an impressive eighth final table showing and taking TWD 52,000 (1,650) for third place. A total of five players made the money, with the tournament paying out as follows:

Taiwan’s Hiu Tung Chan Bags Second Series Title in Event #111: Limit Triple Draw Mix

The TWD 10,000 Event #111: Limit Triple Draw Mix (Badacey,Badeucey) attracted 17 entries (16 unique), generating a TWD 146,761 (~USD4,670) prize pool with the action playing out over twenty 20-minute levels.

It was Hong Kong’s Hiu Tung Chan who showed his artistic side, drawing to victory against Taiwan’s Li-Ta “Leon” Hsu to claim his second title of the series and bank a TWD 70,761 (~USD 2,250) top prize, with Hsu earning TWD 47,000 (~USD 1,495) for his fifth cash of the series.

Australia’s Christopher Tran was the only other player to cash, following up his deep run in the Zodiac Classic with another final table showing which was good for TWD 29,000 (~USD 920).

The last of the festival’s Hyper Turbo side events – the TWD 7,000 Event #112: Hyper Turbo – saw 137 players (109 unique) ante up and fight it out at the felt for a share of the TWD 818,602 (~USD 26,020) prize pool.

Action played out over twenty-six turbo-charged 10-minute levels, with Hong Kong’s Chak Pan Yiu claiming the accolades and the TWD 198,602 (~USD 6,310) top prize.

Taiwan’s Yi Hsuan Chen claimed silver and a TWD 133,000 (~USD 4,230) payout for second, with Australia’s Thanh Phat Nguyen taking bronze and a payout of TWD 88,000 (~USD 2,800) for third place, with a total of 20 players making the money and the final table paying out as follows:

Japan’ Yosuke Nakazawa Claims Second Career APT Title in Event #113: Hyper Turbo - High Roller

The last tournament on the schedule, the TWD 20,000 Event #113: Hyper Turbo - High Roller drew a 70-strong field (65 unique), generating a TWD 1,222,200 (~USD 38,875) prize pool.

These high rollers fought it out over twenty-two turbo-charged 10-minute levels with Japan’s Yosuke Nakazawa clawing his way to the top of the paying positions, besting the Philippines’ Czar Ian Marcos heads-up to claim his second career APT title and the TWD 355,200 (~USD 11,290) top prize.

Marcos made TWD 257,000 for his runner-up finish, with Japan’s Nobuyuki Kawakami rounding out the podium and taking TWD 167,000 (~USD 5,310) for third place, with a total of nine players making the money and the tournament paying out as follows:
