Posted by Christian under Featured, News
With APT Philippines 2010 less than two months away, players looking to win seats are in luck as online poker room PKR has already begun running a wide selection of qualifiers to the big event.
Players from all over the world will be able to choose from a wide range of options in their bid to qualify for the APT Philippines 2010 main event. For as low as US $2.08 + $0.20, they can win their way to a seat through a series of satellites.
In addition, players can also enter PKR’s lottery satellites for as low as 31 cents for a shot at an APT Philippines 2010 main event seat.
PKR will be giving away at least one US $5,000 package to the APT Philippines 2010 main event each Monday starting from June 21. For more information about the qualifiers on PKR, click here.
PKR is the world’s most advanced poker room. It features state-of-the-art graphics and realistic 3D gameplay, giving you the experience of actually playing in a live poker room.
APT Philippines 2010 will be held from August 23 to 29 at the Resorts World Manila complex in Manila, Philippines. Buy-in is set at approximately US $2,500 + US $200.
Last year’s APT Philippines main event won by Filipino poker pro Neil Arce, who took home US $185,000 for finishing first. The win gave poker a big boost in the country as it was the first time a local player had won an international poker tournament held in the Philippines.
Aside from the main event, there will be eight exciting side events at APT Philippines 2010, including a high-rollers tournament, a Pot-Limit Omaha tournament, and the APT’s very own Greed tournament.

Congratulations to Ray Serion!
Posted by Christian under APT Philippines 2010
Congratulations to Ray Serion, who won the RWM Satellite Series 500K Guaranteed, on June 13th! For the win, he received a seat to the APT Philippines 2010 main event and Php 40,000 in cash!
Here’s what Ray had to say about his win:
When the table came down to heads up between myself and my opponent, he had over 670,000 tournament chips compared to my 80,000, giving him almost 10:1 ratio of the 750,000 chips. The blinds were at 5,000-10,000. With potentially only 5-6 hands to play going heads up at these blinds, my best hand selections were to play any face card any ace card. I still felt I could afford to be strategic selective and make it appear to my opponent that my smaller chip stack translated my playing style as being too tight and scared. I was lucky enough to double up twice playing any face any ace and this gave me another “mode” to shift into, with his composure of confidence deteriorating. I was able to adjust and shift gears, whereas he wasn’t; with his thinking process of having a large chip stack and his thoughts of my “weak” game.
“YOU HAVE TO MAKE IT A MISTAKE FOR A PLAYER TO TAG YOU AS A CERTAIN TYPE. YOU HAVE TO BE ABLE TO PLAY MANY STYLES AND BE THOUGHTFUL ABOUT WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO CHANGE GEARS.”
The last hand was played with my slightly larger chip stack covering his with my unraised A-6 offsuit on the button against his Q-4 offsuit. The flop came 6-6-4, whereas as he checked his pair of 4′s on the flop, and I bet out 50,000 to show I was making a bluff in position, and he decides to push all in with his two pair, which was my objective by betting out first. Turn is an ace – he’s drawing dead – tournament over.

First Venue of The Poker Circuit’s Motherboard Series Announced
Posted by Christian under Featured, News

The Poker Circuit (TPC) has announced that the first venue to sign on for its innovative TPC Motherboard is Poker Royale Sports Club.
The TPC Motherboard is a tournament series that will act as a pre-event for APT Philippines 2010, which will be staged at Resorts World Manila from 23rd-29th August 2010.
The series’ unique format will give local players the opportunity to win seats into the APT Philippines Main Event – one of the region’s top international poker tournaments this year.
Independent poker rooms from around the country will run their own legs of the TPC Motherboard during July and August with the finalists from each event coming together for a final play-off tournament to be staged on the opening day of APT Philippines.
Located on Roxas Boulevard in Pasay City, Poker Royale’s TPC Motherboard leg will be from August 6-9 2010 (3 starting days and a Day 2). The event will have a P1M guarantee prize pool that includes 18seats into the TPC Motherboard final event.
“Being a newly-opened poker room, we’re really excited to be announcing our first major tournament,” said Poker Royale’s Charles Koo. “Also, the APT is involved, so it is a very significant event.”
For more information about the TPC Motherboard, click here.
About the TPC Motherboard: The basic premise of the TPC Motherboard is that it will start with one tournament at Php 1,000,000 guaranteed. The guaranteed prize pool will then increase as more poker clubs join in. The whole master plan is to have multiple venues all over the Philippines, playing with the same mechanics and same buy-in of PhP 5,000 + 400, contributing to a multimillion peso prize pool.
For every Php 500,000 guaranteed by a poker room, nine players will be in the money and will qualify for the TPC Motherboard Finale on the opening day of APT Philippines 2010. For example, if five poker rooms were to contribute Php 1,000,000 each (creating a total guarantee of Php 5,000,000), a total of 90 players would be in the money and advance to the Finale.
The TPC Motherboard Finale will take place on August 23, the first day of APT Philippines 2010, at Resorts World Manila. Every player in the Finale is guaranteed a cash prize, with the top players winning seats to the APT Philippines 2010 main event.

Current Guaranteed Prize Pool: PhP 3,010,000
Venues:

GUIDELINES:
- The TPC’s Mother Board will play by the Tournament Director’s Association’s rules (T.D.A.)
- Players that qualify to the finals must pay their way to Manila (airfare & accommodation)
- Each event’s buy in will be Php 5,000.00 and an entry fee of PhP 400.00. With multiple re-entries up to the end of the 1st break per starting day.
- Every PhP 500,000.00 guaranteed (“GTD”) in the prize pool will qualify nine (9) players to the Finals, which will also be considered players “In the Money”. Any additional funds, aside from the guarantee (“GTD”) less than PhP 500,000.00 will be filtered into the prizes for players “In the Money”.
- Pay out percentages will be based on the GTD and for every PhP 500,000.00 in the prize pool.
- Seats into the APT Main Event will be included into the prize pool.
- All venues will use the same blind structure and starting stack provided by the TPC as indicated in the table below.
- For the start of the Finals, blinds will be rolled back to the start of the round where the earliest finishing venue to hit number of qualified players needed.
- Players chip stacks will be recorded and carried over to the Finals.
- Players will be allowed to play multiple venues and may qualify into the finals more than once.
- Players qualifying more than once to the finals cannot aggregate their chip stacks. The Player must choose which chip stack to play first. Only when they exhaust the chosen chip stack can they move on and play their next chip stack.
